Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Jackson fell in love with food and wine during a year abroad in Italy. He began his career at Canlis in 2008 while finishing his Creative Writing degree at the University of Washington. At Canlis, he became "Jackson of all trades;" serving as a barista, bartender, lead server and sommelier. When Jackson passed the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Exam in 2012, his score was the highest achieved that year, earning him the prestigious Rudd Scholarship and Johnston Medal. After time away from Canlis helping to open Aragona under Master Sommelier Chris Tanghe, Jackson returned to take the Assistant Wine Director position in 2014, where he continues to study and strive for the distinction of Master Sommelier.
He's a husband, father, avid hiker and plays a mean guitar.
